On August 2, 1995, we were blessed with our third baby. After having two boys ages 3 and 4 we welcomed our little girl at 2:30 am.
The end of the pregnancy seemed the longest, since it was 2 weeks past her due date and having both my boys two weeks early it seemed like a lifetime. It was a hot summer day and my sister cam from up north to be with me for the birth. Having had my boys in the hospital, this was going to be my first homebirth. The contractions kept coming so I decided to take a nice hot bath and relax in the tub for a while since I really didn’t want to wake
anyone up. . . Read More. . . |

Luckily, when I was a child, our neighbor across the river had a home birth and I remember thinking “Wow, that’s so cool.” I was the only one in my family who felt that way. . . Read More. . . |

I have been offering labor support and postpartum doula services, as well as specializing in pregnancy massage, for five years; so planning and conceiving my first child was an exciting step for me, both personally as a woman and professionally. It was finally time to step beyond the informational books, trainings and professional experiences, and turn inwards to apply them to my own life. Conception marked the beginning of an amazing journey and course in self-realization, one that carried all the way through the birth of my son, Jahsiah. . . Read More. . . |
